In this page you'll study about how to create a Boost Converter Module with specification :
- Minimum Input Voltage = 24 V - Output Current = 2 A
- Maximum Input Voltage = 30 V - Output Voltage = 60 V
- Switching Frequency = 40kHz
Some parameters must be calculated to get the value of Boost Converter components which needed.
After
all component parameters is calculated, you can start to create the
circuit. There are two important main part while create it, they are
Pulse Width modulation (PWM) circuit and Boost Converter circuit. The
inductor use PQ3535 core type.

X1
: Input Terminal ; X2 : Output Terminal ; X3 : MOSFET terminal ; Q2 :
MOSFET IRF460 ; D1 : FR 307 snubber diode ; D2 : STTH60L06C fast
recovery diode ; C1 & C3 : snubber capacitors ; C2 : Output
Capacitor
Result :
PWM 60% (D=0,6)
VGS MOSFET (D=0,6)
VDS MOSFET (D=0,6)
Output Voltage (D=0,6)
Boost Converter Module
From that picture we can calculate the value of Output (D=0,6) with these equation :
Vpp = V/div x vertical div
= 20 x 2,8
= 56 V
In
the design, with value of input voltage is 24 V and D=0,6 will result
output voltage 60 V, but in practice we only get 56 V. So it has 6,67%
of error.
